Greetings chatty natty! Such a book would cause great alarm for me as well! We know that Jesus has performed many signs and wonders, but satan can also perform lying signs and wonders. Not everything supernatural is of God (Ex. 7:9-11; 8:17-19; Deut. 13:1-5; Matt. 24:24; Mark 13:22; 2 Thess. 2:9; Rev. 13:13-14; 16:14; 19:20). There are major differences between the miracles of Jesus and witchcraft. One of the clearest distinctions between God's miracles and lying signs and wonders is who gets the glory for it (2 Chr. 7:3; Matt. 15:31; Mark 2:12; Luke 5:25-26; 7:15-16:13 13; 17:15-16; 18:43; Acts 4:21; 14:11-15; John 2:11; 11:4). Witchcraft, on the other hand, gives no glory to God. It exalts the one performing it - often with the motive of monetary gain, as in Acts 19. As for the miracles of God recorded in Scripture, the reaction of the crowds was one of worship (Ex. 4:30-31; 2 Chr. 7:3; Matt. 9:8; 14:33; 15:30-31; Mark 2:12; Luke 5:25-26; 7:15-16; 13:13; 17:15-16:18:43; Acts 3:8-9; 4:21). When Paul healed the cripple at Lystra in Acts 14:11-15, and the people all cried, "The gods are come down to us..." he rebuked them for thinking it was by his own power that it had been done. Miracles GOD performs cause people to recognize who Jesus Christ really is: the Messiah, the Son of God (Matt. 11:2-5; 14:33; John 6:14; Acts 9:34,35). They cause people to believe in God (Ex. 4:30-31; 14:31; John 2:11, 23; 5:53; 7:31; 10:37-38; 11:45; 20:30-31; Acts 9:42; 13:12). Often they arouse great fear in man for God (Ex. 14:31; Josh. 2:9-11; 5:1; 1 Sam. 12:17-18; Matt. 14:26; Mark 6:49-50; Luke 5:26; 7:15-16; Rev. 11:11,13). So I would conclude in saying that any "spellcasting" of any kind is straight from the occult and very demonic in origin! Any person who engages in these types of activities is just asking for trouble, and it is not Godly! I would simply give your daughter a Bible instead, but that may not be as well received.. Praise the Lord that you have the courage to protect your children against opening doors like this that could lead them straight down to the occult. Blessings to you, Nolan |

Greetings, Diane! As I have stated just prior to your message, I apologize for paraphrasing from your webpage, and I have seen fit to properly cite my source. I did not seek to offend or to plagiarise from your material, and I do apologize. I am usually very good about citing my sources, although the need for me to be explicitly sure that I cite them is now very apparent to me. Thank you! Nolan |
