1 | Need Help on understanding Isaiah 19:5 | Is 19:5 | Makarios | 129850 | ||
Greetings Archangel01, Isaiah predicted that the Egyptians would fight each other (v. 2) and would "resort to idols and ghosts of the dead" (v. 3). They would be conquered by "a cruel master" (v. 4). The Nile River would dry up and "the reeds and rushes will rot away" (v. 6). The Nile River was Egypt's lifeline, producing their fertile soil. This prophecy may very well be speaking of the future Millennium as it does not seem to correspond to any event in history. The Nile prophecy in 19:5-10 would devastate Egypt's economy, but the prophecy does not mention water that may be stored away. Even though I cannot link this prophecy to a single event, I am quite convinced that the Isaiah prophecies of chapter 19 are fulfilled in history and will be fulfilled in the Millennium. Blessings to you, Makarios |
