Hi, pastor... I thought of using "pregnancy" for purposes of analogy; but that was too hackneyed. I also considered avoiding an analogy altogether by using the more precise phrase "binary, mutually exclusive alternative states"; but that was too arcane. Consequently, I returned to a different analogy: "mortality;" which thing had the added benefit of being a good biblical metaphor. Alas, it is a trying thing to tread betwixt precision and perspecuity. And... well... it ain't no fun no how. :-) Too bad we can't take the way of the masses and simply take no responsibility for our words.
