1 | Why R Gen 19:2-8 / Jud 19:20-2 the same | Eccl 1:9 | CBD | 182464
Why do Genesis 19:2-8 and Judges 19:20-25 seem like two versions of the same story? I read the Judges passage during my quiet time last night and remembered the story from Genesis. This is wierd and I know that atheists use these passages (as I have found out tonight) to discredit the word of God as just a bunch of folk tales. Any light that can be shed on this is greatly appreciated.

Hello CBD, Here in Philadelphia where I live, the local newspaper reports daily on the number of gun related homicides. Should I give in to the suspicions of the atheists and declare my local newspaper "a bunch of folk tales?" No . . . of course not. In our fallen world, the same crimes are committed over and over again. Maybe the atheists should stop looking for silly excuses and listen to Solomon. As Solomon said: Ecc 1:9 What has been is what will be, and what has been done is what will be done, and there is nothing new under the sun. Machaira |

Machaira, thank you for your reply. I don't think that is really the answer I was looking for. I think you make a good point, but if the Philadelphia Enquirer reported a story today that was very similar to one that it had reported let's say 50 years ago, and maybe just the names were changed, don't you think that some scrutiny would have been placed upon the accuracy of that story? I am someone who enjoys the study of apologetics and try to use that knowledge to win people to Christ. Anytime an argument is used to discredit the Word of God, I just like to be equipped ("put on the full Armor of God") with knowledge that helps me stand up to scrutiny instead of dodging it. Pardon me for saying so, but I feel as if your reply is somewhat defensive, when there is no need to be defensive. I am merely trying to seek help from my brothers and sisters in Christ to help equip me to witness to a lost world. |

Sorry if I seemed defensive. That certainly wasn't my intent. Machaira |
