Devoltd, Their message is not Biblical for starters. It is man-centered to the core and appeals to peoples' desire for material gain. Read 2 Timothy 4 for a scriptural support. The message of Health and Wealth, Prosperity is relatively new to Christianity. Historically, the Church (as a whole) has not preached nor taught this. It has come about more due to the prosperity that we as Americans have experience economically sine the late 19th and early 20th Centuries. The likes of Murdock and Copeland teachers have picked up on (false)doctrines by FF Bosworth, Edward Cayce, expanding on them and fine -tuning them into wealth creating financial empires. Their "theology" is based upon mysticism which the historic Church has never embraced! Essentially, they deny the authority of scripture, always claiming the "Lord spoke such and such to them", etc. See the article by John MacArthur titled, "The Rise of Reckless Faith". It is available via a web search. I will say that we need to know what sound doctrine is so thouroughly, that we can spot error. Start reading and studying the likes of John Gill, Jonathan Edwards, C.H. Spurgeon, or Whitefield. There is no comparison against the likes of WOF teachers. Yo will start to notice an absence of sound, Biblical doctrine and an almost exclusive emphasis on experience and the supernatural. I hope this helps, BradK |
