1 | Proverbs 8 Wisdom Equals Jesus | Prov 8:22 | suzybeezy | 125308
Points of view on Prov. 8;23 being Jesus. I've read and re-read this and cross-referenced several different ways and I believe this is definately a reference that Wisdom is Jesus. Or I was thinking maybe it means its the wisom of the understanding of the great mystery (Col. 1;27)of Christ living in us. Also why does this whole chapter refer to Wisdom in the feminine form?

Hi, suzybeezy! The Holy Spirit is the Wisdom of God: 1 Corinthians 2:6-13 1 Corinthians 12:3-11 Ephesians 1:13-14, 17 Ephesians 3:10-21 In the last days--the Lord declares-- I shall pour out my Spirit on all humanity. Your sons and daughters shall prophesy, your young people shall see visions, your old people dream dreams. Even on the slaves, men and women, shall I pour out my Spirit. (Acts 2:17-18) This pouring of the Spirit is granted to us through Christ Jesus: I shall ask the Father, and he will give you another Paraclete to be with you for ever, the Spirit of truth whom the world can never accept since it neither sees nor knows him; because he is with you, he is in you. (John 14:16-17) but the Paraclete, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything and remind you of all I have said to you. (John 14:26) When the Paraclete comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who issues from the Father, he will be my witness. (John 15:26) Still, I am telling you the truth: it is for your own good that I am going, because unless I go, the Paraclete will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. And when he comes, he will show the world how wrong it was, about sin, and about who was in the right, and about judgement: about sin: in that they refuse to believe in me; about who was in the right: in that I am going to the Father and you will see me no more; about judgement: in that the prince of this world is already condemned. I still have many things to say to you but they would be too much for you to bear now. However, when the Spirit of truth comes he will lead you to the complete truth, since he will not be speaking of his own accord, but will say only what he has been told; and he will reveal to you the things to come. He will glorify me, since all he reveals to you will be taken from what is mine. Everything the Father has is mine; that is why I said: all he reveals to you will be taken from what is mine. (John 16:7-15) There is a marvelous union in the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit... each reveals Himself as God throughout Israel's journey from Egypt to the New Jerusalem. In the last days it will not be Yahweh (the Father) nor Yeshua (the Son) but the Spirit (the Holy Spirit) who will work directly with the Church--giving to the members of the Body of Christ according to His Will and Wisdom! The Jehovah Witnesses have been adamant about namimg Jesus as God's wisdom; sadly, their whole approach is to present Christ as a creature and not the Creator--please be careful not to fall into that fallacy! I am not familiar with the Hebrew and Greek Languages, but the Latin Language and its derivatives (Spanish, French, Italian...) are gender baised; that is: everything is gender specific (male or female). The Spanish word for wisdom is sabiduria--it falls under the femenine geneder: la sabiduria. Perhaps the author is applying the same grammatical rule. Also, remember that the Old Testament was written in a poetic tone (generous use of metaphores...); I recall one particular passage where Yahweh talks about wanting to gather Israel as a hen gathers her chicks--of course Yahweh is always masculine not femenine... I hope these examples will help you with the femenine gender being applied to Wisdom. One final comment: Obtain (borrow or buy) a Catholic Holy Bible, read the book of Wisdom completely and, then, compare with all of the passages cited, including your original passages. God Bless! 3 | Proverbs 8 Wisdom Equals Jesus | Prov 8:22 | Ray | 125356
Hi JCrichton, In your post you say that the "Holy Spirit is the Wisdom of God". I wonder why you chose to capitalize Wisdom? In 1 Corinthians 1:24 says that Christ is the power and wisdom of God. Verse 30 says that by God's doing you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God. 1 Corinthians 2:4,5 says that we speak words of wisdom and power in demonstration of the power of God and the Spirit. But we speak God's wisdom in a mystery, the hidden wisdom. Are these things revealed to us through His Spirit, [NKJ], the Spirit [NASB], or even possibly, His spirit? See 1 Cor 2:10. Have we received the Spirit or the spirit which is from God? 1 Cor 2:12. In other words, also, do we receive the Wisdom or words of wisdom? Do we know the Presence or feel His prescence? From the heart, Ray |

Hi, Ray! I forgot to copy the text before depressing the Preview button and lost all of my work--it is to late to regain every single passage cited as well as my train of thought. I'll try again after some rest (this netzero service is way deficient!). God Bless! Angel |

Hi Angel, I hear your discouragement and loss. Most of us have lost work in cyberspace I would suppose. When it happens to me, I simply have to remember that everything happens in God's perfect timing. Certainly it didn't happen to me in the past because the post wasn't worthy to be sent... or...but... who knows? Keep smiling and looking up. From the heart, Ray |

Hi, Ray! You're correct... part of our discipline is reliance on God's grace and His Will. So for a brief moment my mind raced thinking of ways to stop the eminent wipeout... but it was too late! Gave it up to the Lord and hoped for a better experience the next time around! God Bless! Angel |
