I was studying Prov. 6; 16-19 and had a question why does it say there are six things the Lord hates and seven that are detestable? What accounts for the difference? Distinguish between the hated and detestable? Are these what is refered to as the seven deadly sins? | ||||||

Hello suzybeezy, The "six...seven" is a Hebrew literary device to grab attention prove a point. The same time of thing is used in the first two chapters of Amos where there is the phrase "For three transgressions...and for four." And yes, these are the seven deadly sins. Steve |
