All that our Lord is saying here, is the same as, "All have sinned, and fall short of the Glory of God". All men including the writer of this post, whether married, or single, whether saved, or unsaved look upon women to lust after them, Just as all women look upon men to lust after them also. What is more all of you know that this to be true. ebrain. |

Greetings Ebrain! Jesus is saying more than just all have sinned (which is certainly true). Look at the context of the Sermon on the Mount. The Pharisee's had a very shallow understanding of the truth depth of sin. They felt that looking was okay as long as one didn't touch (Mt. 5:27-30), but Jesus destroyed that position by showing that even the looking with lust is a sin. They felt that murder was wrong, but hatred was okay (Mt. 5:21-22). Jesus showed them that hatred was just as evil. With example after example, He demonstrated how shallow their understanding was concerning the Law. In fact, the primary verse of the Sermon on the Mount is probably Mt. 5:20 - "For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven. " His point was simple. No one can earn salvation because our righeousness will always fall far short of His Holiness. Which is why Paul demonstrates in Rom. 1-11 that the Law only condemns, it cannot save. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
