3 | Evidence for Aramaic? | Prov 5:1 | Morant61 | 178819 | ||
Greetings Edwin! Thanks for your response! I checked the post that you cited, but I did not find the evidence that I was requesting. I found some speculation that since most of the NT authors spoke Aramiac (which many dispute by the way), that they must have originally written in Aramaic. Why? They were multi-lingual. Why couldn't they have written in Greek, Hebrew, or Aramaic? Why wouldn't they have written in the language that the majority of the people would be able to understand? But, putting speculation aside, the manuscripts provide us with all of the evidence that we need to answer this question. The earliest manuscripts are in Greek, not Aramaic. Quite simply, there is no textual support for any of the New Testament having been written in anything other than Greek. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
