1 | Answer or not? Proverbs 26:4,5 | Prov 26:4 | Eaglewings 40:31 | 68031
Does anyone have any insight that they could share with me regarding verses 4 and 5 of Proverbs 26? This has really thrown me for a loop.
2 | Answer or not? Proverbs 26:4,5 | Prov 26:4 | Makarios | 68033
Greetings Eaglewings 40:31, Here's a bit of insightful commentary... "26:4 Do not answer a fool according to his folly. Do not stoop to his level (see 23:9; Matt. 7:6)." (1) "26:5 Answer a fool as his folly deserves. Sometimes folly must be plainly exposed and denounced." (1) "26:4-5 These verses are complementary rather than contradictory. Although it is unwise to argue with a fool at his level and to recognize his foolish suppositions, there are occasions when it is best to refute him soundly, lest his foolish opinions seem to be confirmed."
