"When a certain rhetorician was asked what was the chief rule in eloquence, he replied, 'Delivery'; what was the second rule, 'Delivery'; what was the third rule, 'Delivery'; so if you ask me concerning the precepts of the Christian religion, first, second, and third, and always I would answer, 'Humility.'" --Augustine (354-430) | ||||||

Whenever I think of this subject, my mind goes back to the night before Christ's betrayal and trial. He instituted the Lord's Supper and then did something truly amazing. He took a bowl of water and washed the feet of all His disciples, even those of Judas, His betrayer. This Perfect God of ours, about to go through the most gruesome and horrible way to die this planet has ever thought about and die for the sins of the whole world. He knew this would separate Him from His beloved Father, something He was definitely NOT looking forward to. And yet he performed one of the most lowly tasks performed by the lowliest servant in the household. That my friend was truly an incredible example of humility. If we could only imitate it and make it real and genuine in our lives. If we could only learn to serve our fellow man and not hope or expect something in return. Good job in digging up this quote. Blessings to you. Country Girl |
