1 | Gentle Words....... | Prov 15:1 | Morant61 | 62210
Commentary......................... Our lives our filled with relationships. We relate to people at home, work, school, and on the internet. Unforunately, when ever we relate to someone else, there is the possiblity of conflict. Prov. 15:1 indicates one of the primary causes of interpersonal conflict - harsh words. Harsh words are tempting morsels. They provide us with the opportunity to get back at someone who has wronged us in some way. They invite us to engage in a quick fix so to speak. However, they only lead to more conflict. A better approach is to use language which is seasoned with: a) Grace b) Love c) Patience d) Gentleness e) Mercy f) Compassion g) Truth One cannot help but to notice that these items mirror to a degree the list of the fruit of the Spirit in Galations. I don't believe that this is a coincidence, for our words spring from our inner most being. If our inner most being is being controlled by the Holy Spirit, then these items will be apparent in all of our conversations. So, the challenge for us is to make sure that the Holy Spirit is Lord of both our lives and our words. He should be Lord of the jokes we tell. He should be Lord of our phone conversations. He should be Lord of the letters we write. He even should be Lord of the posts we make! :-) May Christ be glorified in all that we say and do, and may it be apparent in all that we say and do that He is Lord of our lives. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

The only thing I could add to that is that we need to make sure that Christ is the Lord of our politics as well. The legislation that we stand for should be scripturally valid. Our motives should be out of mercy and compassion, not to make our lives better or 'safer'. love and peace, -jini |

3 | Gentle Words....... | Prov 15:1 | Hank | 63185
With election day drawing near, jini, I strongly echo your remarks regarding the politics of Christian people. In my view it is incumbent upon Christian voters to study the issues and the candidates very closely and to cast their votes for those candidates and their political parties who more nearly embrace Christian standards of morals and ethics. I recognize that this forum is not designed to be or should be turned into a political arena; nevertheless, it is no less our right and duty as free citizens to vote, and as Christian citizens, to vote for Christian leaders. --Hank
