Please expound on the second half of the following verse. Proverbs 13:22 A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children's children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just. I am looking for clarification on the wealth of the sinner being laid up for the just. |

2 | Explain Proverbs 13:22 | Prov 13:22 | Makarios | 70372 | ||
Greetings Cogiclw, The English Standard Version renders this verse this way, "A good man leaves an inheritance to his children's children, but the sinner's wealth is laid up for the righteous." The KJV translation is good, but sometimes it helps to compare different translations. Here is a bit of commentary on this verse: "13:22 Good men leave their wealth to their grandchildren, but sinners lose it to more righteous persons." (1) "13:22 is stored up for the righteous. Job agrees that this is often what happens to a wicked man's possessions (Job 27:16-17; cf. Prov. 28:8)." (2) Blessings to you, Makarios (1) Ryrie Study Bible, Expanded Edition, 1995, The Moody Bible Institute of Chicago (2) The Zondervan NASB Study Bible, 1999, Zondervan Corporation |
