Hi Vintage68, Where did you get your date of 8402? So far, nothing I have read validates this date. I was wondering where and how it was calculated. Thanks, Brad |

Hi BMyers Thank you for your question, in going back to give you an answer I found I had made a mistake, the following will explain. This date isn't actually from the creation of Adam. The date would have to be, from when they had to leave the garden. That would have to be when time actually did start for mankind. Because there is no way of telling how long Adam, and Eve were in the garden, before they were expelled. Time could only be calculated from the time they became fully mortal. Sorry ;-( I had a massive miscalculation. When adding all the ages, I inadvertently added the ages at the time of each death, instead of the ages at the time of each first sons birth. "oops" Therefore the date that I now come up with is ( 1656 ) For date of FLOOD This is my only source of information, for these calculations. Gen.5:3-32 3And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, and after his image; and called his name Seth: 4And the days of Adam after he had begotten Seth were eight hundred years: and he begat sons and daughters: 5And all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years: and he died. 6And Seth lived an hundred and five years, and begat Enos: 7And Seth lived after he begat Enos eight hundred and seven years, and begat sons and daughters: 8And all the days of Seth were nine hundred and twelve years: and he died. 9And Enos lived ninety years, and begat Cainan: 10And Enos lived after he begat Cainan eight hundred and fifteen years, and begat sons and daughters: 11And all the days of Enos were nine hundred and five years: and he died. 12And Cainan lived seventy years and begat Mahalaleel: 13And Cainan lived after he begat Mahalaleel eight hundred and forty years, and begat sons and daughters: 14And all the days of Cainan were nine hundred and ten years: and he died. 15And Mahalaleel lived sixty and five years, and begat Jared: 16And Mahalaleel lived after he begat Jared eight hundred and thirty years, and begat sons and daughters: 17And all the days of Mahalaleel were eight hundred ninety and five years: and he died. 18And Jared lived an hundred sixty and two years, and he begat Enoch: 19And Jared lived after he begat Enoch eight hundred years, and begat sons and daughters: 20And all the days of Jared were nine hundred sixty and two years: and he died. 21And Enoch lived sixty and five years, and begat Methuselah: 22And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters: 23And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years: 24And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him. 25And Methuselah lived an hundred eighty and seven years, and begat Lamech. 26And Methuselah lived after he begat Lamech seven hundred eighty and two years, and begat sons and daughters: 27And all the days of Methuselah were nine hundred sixty and nine years: and he died. 28And Lamech lived an hundred eighty and two years, and begat a son: 29And he called his name Noah, saying, This same shall comfort us concerning our work and toil of our hands, because of the ground which the LORD hath cursed. 30And Lamech lived after he begat Noah five hundred ninety and five years, and begat sons and daughters: 31And all the days of Lamech were seven hundred seventy and seven years: and he died. 32And Noah was five hundred years old: and Noah begat Shem, Ham, and Japheth. Gen. 7:11,12 11In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened. 12And the rain was upon the earth forty days and forty nights. again sorry for the mess up Vintage68 |

Thanks, for explaining. You may want to do some additional research, due to the flood date has been placed between 2,000 and 3,000 BC by some Biblical scholars (some even go older). I will not pretend to understand it all, but I know from the articles I read, that the estimates (fancy word for guess) on the flood date was centered around dates of the Exodus and other events that they can tie to known event dates and then they work back from those dates. I checked my ESV Study Bible, NKJV Chronological Bible, and NASB Zondervan Study Bible which all had dates of 2,000BC or older. (Remembering these are just educated guesses.) Maybe someone that has spent time studying this topic of dating could explain better than I, but it is an interesting topic (I've only read a little on Biblical dating (not talking about the boy-girl dating either)), not only dating of the flood, but many Biblical events. Hi BMyers Just for a clarification on my part. I am stating that the flood took place in the year 1656 period. Not that it was a BC date. Time then started again as far as I am concerned after the flood. The experts with all of their educated guesses, are all coming from Exidus backwards to the flood. I on the other hand am coming from Adam forward to the flood. If you put the two time frames together it comes out to approximately 4000 - 5000 years from Adam to Jesus. Depending on the expert. As far an age of the Earth, that is a completely different matter. We all know and agree that it took 6 days for the creation, God resting on the 7th. But from that point on we have no evidence as to how long Adam, and Eve were in the garden before expulsion. So as far as I am concerned, it could be as long as the geologists say it is. We just don't know. Vintage68 |
