People, I think it would be very important to note the in all cases of angelohponies that the bodily dwelling angel was on a mission from God to accomplish the work of God for His glory. I have never found 1 exception to this observation. Since God is the creator of ALL things I would find it hard to believe that He gave fallen angels bodies to do that which is against His will and an abomination in His sight. To say that is to make God the agent and author of evil. I certainly would not want to say this about God the Holy One. Also, we must note that if fallen angels have creative power(the ability to make a body for themselves outside the will of God) then how could we know for certain that the resurrected Christ was indeeed from God and not a deceiving angel leading Christians astray? God has reserved many things to be His realm alone and creation is one of them along with salvation and judgement and many others. Also noteworthy on the subjects of fallen creatures(angels, demons)where do we receive any evidence other than a very questionable one in reference here that fallen creatures ever do anything other than to "possess" an unsaved human. When the creature is exorcised it does not kill either the evil spirit or the evil human as best as I can decipher from scripture. I do commend all of you for the efforts and time spent studying the Bible and do hope that this will be food for thought and not taken as a condemnation of anyone or of their thoughts.... Hi Fedexguy, You make a very interesting point! We do not, to my knowledge, have any examples of fallen angels "materializing" a body, or appearing as a man, as do the holy angels. There is the passage in Jude, which may give some more detail to this: Jud 1:6 And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation (oiketerion - same word as in 2Cor 5, referring to our heavenly body), he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day. 7 Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire. This passage speaks of angels who left their heavenly body (?) to "go after strange flesh", and to commit fornication. They are now imprisoned, awaiting their judgment. If that is the proper understanding of this passage, it would indicate that the fallen angels did not appear as men in the same way as the holy angels did, but perhaps somethingelse, something much more strange, of which we are not given details, happened. One other thought for your consideration. Do fallen angels actually possess men? There are many referrences to "unclean spirits", and "demons", but does the Bible actual define these as fallen angels? We know from Luke 11:24 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he saith, I will return unto my house whence I came out. that the unclean spirit desires to possess a body. The same is illustrated in the story of Legion and the pigs. But why would an angel need a body to inhabit? Angels are powerful beings, created as a complete creature. On the other hand, if fallen angels fathered children with human women, what would be the spiritual status of their offspring? When they were killed in the flood, did their dying bodies then release these "unclean spirits", who were neither man nor angel, and who would never be satisfied with their existance, and seek to inhabit another body, until that time appointed when they would be sent to their final judgement? Thank you for your good observations. Love in Christ, Mark |

Mark, thank you for your consideration of my point. May I make one more observation for your consideration. Does the Bible speak of any other moral agents other than angels and man? We see in Jude and a couple of other passages where angels who have sinned are being held for judgement so we can deduce that angels are or at least were moral agents at one time choosing to obey or disobey the Creator. So I propose that the unclean spirits or demons must come from this order or created beings since we know that God did not originally create any being in a fallen state or per se "evil". I may have made too great a leap to assume that the unclean spirits and demons were at one time angels but I would be grabbing at straws that simply are not in the Bible to say what other possible sources there are for them. Also, we are told that satan sent an angelos(translated messenger in the NIV) to torment Paul in 2 Cro 12:7. If you know of any indications of any other moral beings clearly shown in the Bible I would appreciate any direction or correction. I can only go with what the Holy Spirit has illuminated in my study and I am far from being fluent in the Bible at this point in my walk. In Christ alone, fedexguy(Dean) | ||||||

Hello Dean, I don't think you are stretching things too far. Angels are indeed moral agents. The fall of stars of heaven mentioned in Rev 12:4 is often viewed as an historical event when these angels followed Satan in his rebellion. Steve |
