Hi Doc, love you answer. I also had a question regarding the Nephilim and could not believe that the Nephilim were the offspring of angels and human females. I can not see that God gave any angels the ability to procreate. I'm getting an undestanding from your answer that the sons of Seth where the line of Jesus would come from and the daughters of Cain were not of the line of Jesus and therefore it appears to me that it was a way to corrupt the line of Jesus. How they came to be gaints, maybe no-one can really answer. | ||||||

Dear Gladdish, Thank you for the encouragement. There is an old aphorism that I heard from one of my hermeneutics professors: when the plain sense makes good sense seek no other sense. This aberrant interpretation by some folks based on a single word in a single verse, nor supported by any genuine scholar of scripture since the time of Moses, does not lend itself to serious consideration. No doubt the author of the parasite kingdom had intentions to disrupt the evangelium of Genesis 3:15. However, God in His sovereign providence dealt with all of that decisively in the flood. To say much more would be speculative at best. We should say what the scripture reveals, and all that scripture reveals, but when it falls silent then so should we all. In Him, Doc |

I take exception to your statement and I quote. "This aberrant interpretation by some folks based on a single word in a single verse, nor supported by any genuine scholar of scripture since the time of Moses, does not lend itself to serious consideration." First it is aberrant because it does not fit YOUR theology. Any so called genuine scholar that does not at least consider all interpretations is not a scholar at all. To be a true scholar one must consider all interpretations, they may be summarily rejected but their validity must at least be examined. That said there are serious and well qualified scholars that see this passage in a different light. I will not defend their position but to try to invalidate it by simply saying no one even considers it is not true. You might not consider it and that is fine but there are well credentialed men that do. Let us stick with fact and try to insure we don't mistakenly state our opinions as though they are fact. |
