Hi, Keily... Archbishop Usher, in 1650, assumed the genealogy from Adam to Noah was "complete with no omissions" in order to arrive at the 1,656 years. I have seen computations, varying some of the assumptions, as high as 8,000 years. Regardless, this theory of the completeness of the genealogy from Adam to Noah is not universally accepted -- not even by conservative scholars (i.e., those who believe in the plenary verbal inspiration of the scriptures).
