Dear ablessings, Welcome to the forum! In the parlance of believers these are phrases that have simply become euphemisms for death. The acknowledge the authority of God over the times and seasons of our lives He has given us. I suppose the term "taken" originates in Genesis 5:22. The term of being "received" probably stems from such passages as Psalm 49:15. I suppose that if there is a distinction, it would rest in that the latter word also is used to mean welcoming a visitor.
