Why did God allow men to have more then one wife in the Old Testatment?? This is very confusing. I mean marrying sisters and cousins as well. I am baffled by this. | ||||||

Hi, kjarels... Welcome to the forum! Since God created a single wife for Adam, we may conclude that this represented His perfect plan. The first reference to multiple wives is Lamech (Genesis 4:18). Look what a fine fellow he is! (That was said with a tone of irony!) I've also noticed that every man in Scripture with multiple wives, only seemed to have problems because of the practice -- not only for themselves, but for their wives. Think about Abraham, Jacob, David, Ramathaimzophim, etc. Clearly having multiple wives is something a man in his flesh would desire. God often curses man by leaving him to his own will.
