Thanks, now let's delve deeper into it. Redemption means "buy back" . In the first 3 chapters deal with Creation, fall of man and consequences. God clothed them, so an animal was sacrificed for them to cover their nakedness. How is that explaining the sacrificial system
2 | Main principle behind sacrifices? | Gen 3:21 | lionheart | 214732
johnramz, In a manner of speaking this is where it started. In Gen 3:21 God had to shed blood to cover the sin of Adam and Eve. We see in the five books of Moses the part that the shedding of was to play in the forgiveness of sin (ours). Thus the OT sacrifices. Which culminates with the sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ. In Him, lionheart |

So, it means that in principle sins leads to death either way, the sinner itself or an intermediary. Right? Does God explain anywhere in the Bible why he chose this method(spilling of blood) or why it is the only method? Also, I have noticed that it is also a way to express gratitude for God's provision. For example when Cain and Abel brought their offering. Is that explained also somewhere else?. Thanks for your time and thank you for being sensitive to my search for answers.

Hi johnramz, I'm not sure that there is any sacrifice of animals in the Bible for anything but the remission of sin. Sacrifice always points to the cross. I could be wrong on that one, though I don't think so. Perhaps someone else can answer that better. Why death for sin? Or, Why did Jesus have to die? Here's something from: http://www.gotquestions.org that should begin explain it pretty well. --"When we ask a question such as this, we must be careful that we are not calling God into question. To wonder why God couldn’t find “another way” to do something is to imply that the way He has chosen is not the best course of action and that some other method would be better. Usually what we perceive as a “better” method is one that seems right to us. Before we can come to grips with anything God does, we have to first acknowledge that His ways are not our ways, His thoughts are not our thoughts—they are higher than ours (Isaiah 55:8). In addition, Deuteronomy 32:4 reminds us that “He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he.” Therefore, the plan of salvation He has designed is perfect, just, and upright, and no one could have come up with anything better. The Scripture says, “For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures” (1 Corinthians 15:3-4). Evidence affirms that the sinless Jesus bled and died on a cross. Most importantly, the Bible explains why Jesus’ death and resurrection provide the only entrance to heaven."-- There is much more at this address: http://www.gotquestions.org/why-Jesus-die.html I highly recommend it for further reading. I pray this helps you. John |

Thanks John. I have been a Christian for a some time but now I am pausing and pondering about the basis of my faith. I've always heard the explanation of the redemption plan and its connection with the sacrificial system without examining the origins of it. I really want to know why I believe what I believe within the limitations of my finite mind. I am aware that I will not find all the answers to every possible question that arises in my mind. However, this time around I will try to do some of the homework myself and not just hear the same preachers repeat the same over and over without me analyzing it and even better to be able to explain it to others. I appreciate those links you provided me with. I will read them. I will sure follow your advice about not questioning God about the way He operates and apprehend whatever I cannot comprehend. Thanks for the welcome by the way |
