1 | Is the tree is Gen.2:17 a first- fruit? | Gen 2:17 | jimore | 223782
Hi and thanks in advance for your help. In Genesis 2:17 have you heard anything to the effect that God is implying the fruit of tree of the knowledge of good and evil should not be eaten because it constitutes the "first fruits" and there for belongs to Him. |

2 | Is the tree is Gen.2:17 a first- fruit? | Gen 2:17 | Makarios | 223796
Greetings Jimore, You ask, "In Genesis 2:17 have you heard anything to the effect that God is implying the fruit of tree of the knowledge of good and evil should not be eaten because it constitutes the "first fruits" and there for belongs to Him." Related scripture verses: Ezekiel 47:7-12; Jeremiah 17:8; Revelation 2:7, 22:2-14 Based on these passages, if you conclude that those of the redeemed in Christ are the "first fruits" (Romans 8:23; 1 Cor. 15:20-23; James 1:18), and since God forbade fallen man to eat of the Tree of Life in the Garden of Eden, then you would be correct. Blessings to you, Makarios |

3 | Did Able give first fruits and not Cane? | Gen 2:17 | jimore | 223797
Thank you so much for your thoughtful and speedy response. I have another question for you, again if you don't mind. Along this same line. Could it be so, regarding Cane and Able that one's offering was accepted and the other rejected simply on the basis of one giving the first fruit and the other not? |

4 | Did Able give first fruits and not Cane? | Gen 2:17 | BradK | 223805
Hello jimore, Allow me to repost a previous response of mine to the same essential question: (ID#218588) I can give you a couple of reasons stated from scripture: 1. Heb 11:4 tells us, "By faith Abel offered to God a better sacrifice than Cain, through which he obtained the testimony that he was righteous, God testifying about his gifts, and through faith, though he is dead, he still speaks." (NASB) The corollary- and implication- is that Cain's sacrifice was not "by faith"; 2. In Gen. 3:17 we take note that God cursed the ground because of sin, "...Cursed is the ground because of you; In toil you will eat of it All the days of your life." (NASB) In Gen. 4:3 we're told, "So it came about in the course of time that Cain brought an offering to the LORD of the fruit of the ground." (NASB) I hope this helps, BradK |
