Greetings thankyou and welcome to the forum, From a 3rd grader's view (and ours), it must be something they've never done and been told not to do it. They've may have seen it and had no desire, until someone else (other than the rule maker) makes some suggestions. I thought about this ... Mom makes something new, like Jell-O. She says not to eat it. The child sees it and obeys ... until a friend comes over and asks if (s)he's been told not eat it, knowing what the answer is. The child answers, adding the word "touch". The friend then says, it tastes good and is good for you ... and since the Mom has it, you'll be just like her. "Don't you want to be just like your parents?" The child thinks it is good. So the child takes a little bite ... there is no special taste ... and hears Mom. So runs and hides, even though it is now for their special talk time. She calls for her child ... several times. Finally, the child comes out. She asks where were you. The child says (s)he was afraid and felt guilty. Mom asks who said you were guilty ... and what was done to make it so. The child blames the friend. Mom then deals out the punishment ... yard work for her child and banishes the friend from her house for a week. I'd added a third person, but, it may complicate the story. There probably are better illustrations. Brainstorm this one, if you like. Hope this helps, Searcher |
