1 | Gen 38 and Racheal and Leah's lineage | Gen 29:5 | HeyImAJesusFreak | 42933
OK, I have a few questions. First of all, was Laban, Leah and Rachel's father, a Caananite? Does the Bible mention who Leah and Rachel's mother was or if they had the same mothers? If they had the same mother or not, was their mother/mothers a Caananite? Also do you have any insight on Gen. 38:27-30. What the symbolism in it? I know Perez is part of the lineage of Christ but I don't get the symbolism of Zerah's hand coming out first and the scarlet thread around his wrist and then Perez "breaking out". Thanks and God bless!

Scripture ... Gen 24:1ff, 25:24-26, 28:1, 6, 27:43, 29:5, 10-14, 38:27-30 HeyImAJesusFreak, Laban wasn't a Caananite (Gen 24:1ff, 28:1, 6, 27:43, 29:5, 10-14). We do not know about the mother(s) of and Rachel. There is no symbolism in the scarlet thread in birth Zerah and Perez (Gen 38:27-30) ... it was used to see who was born first. The babies could of been mixed up. There wasn't mentioned being done earlier (25:24-26). Hope this helps, Searcher |

Laban was Jacob and Esau's uncle. Gen 28:2 Arise, go to Padan-aram, to the house of Bethuel your mother's father, and take from there as a wife one of the daughters of Laban your mother's brother. Gen 28:5 Thus Isaac sent Jacob away. He went to Padan-aram, to Laban son of Bethuel the Aramean, the brother of Rebekah, Jacob and Esau's mother. |
