1 | Did Rebekah actually receive a curse? | Gen 27:27 | Chusarcik | 141096
In Genesis 26:13, Jacob was worried that stealing Esau's birthright through trickery would bring a curse upon him. Rebekah told him not to worry and that any resulting curse would fall on her. Is there scriptural evidence that she did receive a curse and if so, what was the curse? Chusarcik
2 | Did Rebekah actually receive a curse? | Gen 27:27 | Out of the miry clay | 141097
In Genesis 27:27, Jacob receives a blessing instead of a curse, so there was no curse to pass along to Rebekah. However, after she and Isaac sent Jacob to Paddan-aram (Genesis 28), she did not see her favorite son again in her lifetime. (P. S. I think you meant to reference Genesis 27:13 instead of 26:13.)
3 | Did Rebekah actually receive a curse? | Gen 27:27 | greentwiga | 141110
Jacob says If I give him stew, Isaac will feel my arm, know I am not Esau, and curse me. Rebekah says, If he curses you, let it fall on me, just make the stew. While he does, she prepares goatskin coverings, probably from the stomach for hair most like humans and gets Esau's clothes. Since the ruse works, Isaac does not curse Jacob, but blesses him as is recorded in scripture. Since there was no curse, there was nothing to pass on to Rebekah. The curse comes from Isaac not God. You are right that Rebekah and Jacob each suffered for the trickery, but not as a result of a curse from Isaac. Greentwiga |
