Actually 6 days, the Bible says in (Gen 1:1 KJV) In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. The first chapter of Genesis tells us day by day what was made, ending each time with and the evening and the morning was (x) for the number of the day. God did not give a name to each of the first 6 days only a number, he did give a name to the 7th day he named it the Sabbath day. Now last verse in Ch. 1 (Gen 1:31 KJV) And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day. Notice it says God saw every thing that he had made, and it was VERY GOOD… (Gen 2:1 KJV) Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. (Gen 2:2 KJV) And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. (Gen 2:3 KJV) And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made. |

What's wrong with the sun and moon being created on day 4? Who says that day 7 did not have an end? |

5 | 24 hour days are based on what? | Gen 1:2 | nimrod2 | 43448 | ||
I would think it is a valid question. Our 24 hour day/night periods are based on the rotation of the earth on its axis as it spins around in orbit of the sun. The sun being the "greater" light while the moon and the stars of course represent the "lesser" light to govern the night. Both very important factors. I believe in the Bible but I do not treat it as a scienctific textbook, rather the opposite, it is to guide me spiritually and morally. How can anyone be sure how long the first three creation days were? For that matter, who says that day 7 did end? I have seen evidence that the Hebrew word for day could also mean age or generation. |

The statement is made from the first day.. evening and morning were the first day. This is written at a time after the creation by Moses. Just as when Moses stated ... that Cain dwelt in the land of Nod, not that it was called Nod when Cain dwelt in it. It became Nod much much later. But Moses was just identifying the area. Just as if you said my Indian forefathers dwelt in Dallas, not that it was caled Dallas when they were there. So this reference also is from Moses that the evening and the morning were the first day when as yet there was no son or moon. However by making the statment the evening and the morning were the first day he is making it clear beyond all question that it was not ages or eons that is meant but an evening and a morning. May God bless you in your study of His Word. |
