Lady K, Technically, no, man is no longer being "created" except spiritually at salvation. Adam was the only man ever truly created - spirit, soul, and body. Every man since then has been "born" of human parents, not created by God. Now to the other part of your question. Only Adam was created purely in the image of God. He reflected the traits of his creator. Christ alone now reflects the exact representation of God but He was not created. :) After Adam fell, this image was still there but it was marred. He no longer accurately reflected his Creator. He spiritual died the day he ate from "the tree of the knowledge of good and evil" and became separated from the life of his Creator. Please notice Genesis 5:3. There Moses states that Seth was born (not created) in Adam's fallen image, not God's image. And so it has been down through the ages. We must be careful on this issue because of it's importance to our culture and beliefs. If we say that man no longer bears the image of God, it would seem to justify abortion, euthenasia, etc. On the other hand, if we say that man still bears the accurate image of God, then everybody is A-okay and therefore does not require redemption. So it is important to make the distinction - fallen man still bears the image of God but it is no longer accurate. Only by being born-again can man once again, reflect the attributes of His Creator. It is Christ in us that allows us to become what God's design for man is, children of God, created to contain and reflect Him. Hope this helps. ChristLifer2001 |
