"Be fruitful, multiply" AMPLIFIED Genesis 1:22 And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let the fowl multiply in the earth. AMPLIFIED Genesis 1:28 And God blessed them and said to them, Be fruitful, multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it [using all its vast resources in the service of God and man]; and have dominion over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and over every living creature that moves upon the earth. 1. If we don't marry each other, then whom would we marry? 2. If we didn't marry each other, the human race would have become extinct thousands of years ago. 3. Although we are all descended from Adam, we are NOT all brothers and sisters. A person who is not the child of [one or both of] my parents is NOT my literal brother or sister. For example, I have a relative whose great-grandfather was also my great-grandfather. (Her grandmother and my grandmother were sisters.) But that doesn't make my relative my sister. Instead she is my second cousin. (Second cousin - "a child of a first cousin of one's parent" [The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language: Fourth Edition. 2000.]) Therefore, saying that everyone in the human race is my brother or sister is more than a mere exaggeration; it simply isn't true. |
