1 | why did God create the world | Gen 1:1 | kalos | 3887 | ||
You write: "Since God does whatever he pleases, then one answer is that God created the world because it pleased him to do so. " . . . Yours is the "right" answer! I believe that is as close as we get to a Biblical reason for why God created the earth, "according to the good pleasure which He purposed in Him." . . . However, my understanding of what Eph 3:8-10 says and means is not the same as yours. My understanding is that it says: "to preach to the Gentiles the unfathomable riches of Christ . . . so that the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known through the church to the rulers and the authorities in the heavenly places." . . . In other words, Paul is writing that he preaches to the Gentiles the riches of Christ with the result that the wisdom of God might now be made known. . . . This is not the same as your understanding, if I understand you correctly, where you imply that God created all things so that the wisdom of God might now be made known. Not to quibble over words, but the Creation in and of itself does not make known the wisdom of God, including the gospel of Christ. However, preaching the riches of Christ does make known the wisdom of God, including the gospel of Christ. . . . Again, my brother, I assure you that I neither intend to be quarrelsome nor unkind. I merely point out the difference in interpretation between the two of us. Thank you for a good posting. God bless, JVH0212 |
