1 | Need good book series...entire bible... | Gen 1:1 | egosophist | 204825 | ||
I just finished my masters and am taking a year or so off to study and prepare for my PhD. I would like to know a good book series to get into the history, authors, and exposition of the books of the bible. My goal is to read a book about each book of the bible, as I read the bible in a year...my goal is to become more intimate with the word from a Christian biblical based direction. I am sure there are series written by great men...I am having a difficult time finding good sources. Thanks |

Hi Egosophist You couldn't get a better Christian, biblical based direction, than the Bible itself. God inspired, faith based believers to write it for us, to be interpreted for us by the Holy Spirit. It is not another book of Philosophy, it isn't like any other book, in the entire world, it is a book from the Creator of the Universe, to us individually, if you open your heart, "God will talk to you personally". Just like when He talked to Adam, in the Garden. But if all you want, is a bunch of head knowledge, from other people's viewpoint then by all means, get a lot of books. There are literally tons of them out there. If that's your goal, then this one should do the trick. JESUS REDISCOVERED By MALCOLM MUGGERIDGE Have yourself a good year or so. JIM |

"But if all you want, is a bunch of head knowledge, from other people's viewpoint then by all means, get a lot of books." Then you recommend a book. :-) By the way, I was reading some Eckhart Tolle recently, and he says a lot of the same stuff that Joyce Meyer says... I'm uncertain how these people fill books with their "head knowledge" while advocating that "head knowledge" is to be eschewed. Why, its enough to make a person not want to buy their books! I've a suspicion, though, that those who do buy their books are relatively safe from having their heads contaminated with knowledge. I'm unfamiliar with Malcolm Muggeridge. I look forward to correcting that lack. |
