Greetings FRUITLOOPS, Genesis 17:8 "I will give to you and to your descendants after you, the land of your sojournings, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God." NASB Here is a bit of commentary on this verse.. "17:8 land. See [Genesis] 12:7; 15:18; Acts 7:5. everlasting possession. The land, though an everlasting possession given by God, could be temporarily lost because of disobedience (see Deut 28:62-63; 30:1-10)." (1) The Zondervan NASB Study Bible, 1999, the Zondervan Corporation, Kenneth Barker, pg. 27 "17:8 all the land of Canaan. God's reaffirmation of His covenant promises to Abraham did not occur without mention of the land being deeded by divine right to him and his descendants as "an everlasting possession." Cf. Acts 7:5." (2) The MacArthur Study Bible, NKJV, 1997, Word Publishing, John MacArthur, pg. 38 I hope that these help! Blessings to you, Makarios |
