Greetings TommyS - See post 40368 I have always understood this passage as an instance of man taking matters into is own hands and suffering the consequences thereof . . . Instead of trusting God and being honest, Abram constructed a plant to save his own hide at the expense of his wife . . . and Pharaoh might have taken her as his wife as a result of this deception. But I tend to agree that this was a "might of" situation the God averted inspite of Abram's plans! I suggest that the words, "to be" are significant. It places a future inference as opposed to "as" or "for". But this is just inference as I am not a scholar! Since the Law was not yet given, it seems to me that possibly there was no "divorce" as we understand the term. mommapbs |
