Hi, Maniel, welcome to the forum! Sometimes God doesn't do the things we expect. There is much in history that is not recorded. However, He has insured the survival of these stories in order to make a point. It is left up to the reader to see the defective character of Abram. God had not directed Abram to go to Egypt, and it might have been for this reason that he comes up with this plan. However, God shows His high demands for moral purity in His judgement of Pharaoh. Remember, becaues of all this Abram ended up with Hagar and all the troubles that that caused! Also keep in mind that God has chosen Abram to show grace to him. It wasn't because Abram was a good guy. It was simply God's choice. In a similar way, there is nothing good in us that God should choose us. Quite the contrary! I hope this helps. Perhaps another will have a better explanation for you. in Him, Doc |
