1 | who was the oldest man | Ps 90:10 | bunnies | 203303
Who was the oldest man in scripture and what was average life span. How were their years calculated compared to ours today. A co worker believes the life span was only 30 years, and that you can't take what the bible says about age as true.
2 | who was the oldest man | Ps 90:10 | Tamara Brewington | 203740
Methueselah was the oldest man. Bit of advice, if God could send Jesus Christ as God and man, which is the ultimate miracle then there is no problem believing that men lived to be 900 years old and that their age then went down to 120 years as the Bible says; when the Bible makes plain sense seek no other sense or it becomes nonsene. Apply this to all numbers in the Bible except where the prophets are indicating that the numbers are allegorical. Creation was in six days, the Great Tribulation will take 7 years, the temple in heaven in Revelation has exact measurements as does the city of Jerusalem, you see the prophecies of the birth of Jesus said it would take exactly 400 years which it did and Israel was prophesied to go into captivity for 70 years which it did, and Israel was prophesied to go into captivity for 400 years which it did. Since every single prohecy in the Bible has come true so far and since every single prophecy with numbers has come true so far, then numbers are real and are not figurative, but literal.

Dear Tamara, Welcome to the forum. You say : "...their age then went down to 120 years as the Bible says;..." Did you get the idea from Gen 6:3? If so, how would you reconcile the scripture with the following fact? The scripture would not be wrong, but just our interpretation could be mistaken. Repost of an old post #133609 by following him: "If God limited the life span of men to 120 years, and this restiction came before the flood, how is it that those after the flood lived to well over 120 years. Shem - 602 Arpachshad - 438 Selah - 433 Eber - 464 Peleg - 239 Reu - 239 Serug - 230 Nahor - 148 Terah - 205 Abraham - 175 Issac - 180 Jacob - 140 All of these men except Shem were born after the flood. So it appears that perhaps God was not talking about the life span of man when He mantioned the 120 years. If He did, then why did these all live so much longer." Thank you for your further enlightenment. Shalom Azure |

Dear Azure its the same as when God said to Adam, in dying you shall surely die. The death was not just spiritual, Adam starting dying until he died, God was gracious in not making him physicaly die right away, but death still came along. Same thing with these men, they may have been born after the flood, but what is important is that God's decree that men would no longer live more than 120 years eventualy went into effect, it did happen... God bless, Tamara
