1 | Prophecy of city of Tyre fulfilled? | Ps 87:4 | Makarios | 6893
Considering the history of the city of Tyre (Ezek. 27-29), would Psalm 87:4 be a prophecy that was fulfilled when a Christian church was built on the site of the Melkharth temple? Some of Tyre's citizens came to hear the preaching of Jesus (Mark 3:8), and Christ visited the neighborhood (Mark 7:24-31) getting a favorable reception (Luke 10:13). Tyre was visited by Paul (Acts 12:20, 21:3-7). So would the church in Tyre be a fullfillment of Psalm 87:4 even though Tyre is prophecied against in Isaiah 23:1-18?
2 | Prophecy of city of Tyre fulfilled? | Ps 87:4 | Searcher56 | 7141
Nolan ... I think it is a stretch to say so. Tyre was leveled by Alexander. I do not see the church in Psalm 87. But, you could be right. I have areas that I see that I have not seen anyone else may that observation. Searching Scripture Steve |

Thanks Steve for your honesty! The fact is that Psalm 87 is NOT directly being fulfilled as a prophecy! You answered correctly, my brother in Christ. There is nothing in Psalm 87 that ascribes prophecy to Tyre, even though it is 'possibly' suggested in this verse. I had some questions concerning Tyre for the person who would affirm this verse as a prophecy.. Good show, Steve!
