1 | Is "Revival" A Biblical Concept? | Ps 85:6 | Parousia | 56019
I put "Revival" in quotes to indicate the noun aspect of the modern revival meeting. Your verses are nice but use the word as a verb or adjective. I am looking for a biblical concept of revival meeting or gathering.
2 | Is "Revival" A Biblical Concept? | Ps 85:6 | srbaegon | 56036
Hello Parousia What most call "revival" today is nothing more than "revivalism" which has its foundations during the 2nd Great Awakening and Chrales Finney. His premise was to use whatever means possible to stir up souls (emotionalism) that some might be saved. It differed from the 1st Great Awakening and Jonathan Edwards who did not attempt to stir up emotions but preached that men be faithful and obedient in their service to God so that He might pour out His blessing. An excellent book on the subject is Revival and Revivalism: The Making and Marring of American Evangelicalism by Iain H. Murray Steve |
