2 | Is "no" or "wait" prayer not answered | Ps 80:4 | JCrichton | 135958 | ||
Hi, Romenile! Prayers are part of the Christian's persona... there's is no way that a Christina cannot pray--always! Sometimes the problem Christians face with prayer request is lack of patience... sometimes is lack of humility... sometimes is lack of communion... Jesus tells us that we are to ask and that we are to believe that what we asked for is granted by God... but He never said "the second you ask you will receive!" There are conditions that must be met when asking God for assistance (Luke 18:1-8; Mark 11:24-26; James 4:3;); two very specific conditions are found in Matthew 6:10 and Luke 11:13: asking in God's will and forgiving those who have trespassed against us! Just as a sample, I am including some of the apostles' exchanges dealing with prayer: Romans 1:10; Philippians 1:4; Colossians 1:3; 4:12; 1 Thessalonians 1:2; 2 Thessalonians 1:11; philemon 1:4... they all include consistency and hope! We must check that our prayers are not self-serving, that our hearts is not just straight with the Lord but straight also with our brethren and our neighbors; we must check for inconsistency in our hope and respect for God's Will; check our lives for signs of God's responses (sometimes we want to see the sea parting as a sign that God is there with us... at times it is not the comparative growth of a business or financial affairs but the 'round-the-corner assist without which we would have failed terrebly waaaay back!); one more thing to look for is how we are receiving the inability to plow ahead into that financial status that we desire to attain! Above all, we must remember to thank God for all the little things that make our lives worth living--even without the comforts afforded by a solvent/lucrative financial status. God Bless! Angel |
