1 | Sin no more? | Ps 51:1 | mark d seyler | 144215
Hi Seedling, God bless you! You move quickly from the simple to the difficult! :-) Can I explain how that man, or us, can sin no more? All I can say is this: James 1:12 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him. We endure temptation, but do not sin. 1 Cor 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. God protects us from "irresistable" temptations. All temptations are able to be resisted. I think (IMO) that Jesus wants to set the direction of our hearts, that we would not sin, even knowing that we are weak: Psalm 103:13 Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him. 14 For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust. Seedling, God desires that we do not sin, but has made a provision for when we fail in our efforts: 1 John 2:1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: Everyday I pray God keep me strong, and not sin. Temptations come, and I pray that He keeps me strong to resist, and that He gains the victory for me. Everyday I manage to sin, and I so look forward to the day when I am perfected in Him, in Christ Jesus, and am no longer in fallen flesh. The short answer, how can we not sin? In His power. 2 | Sin no more? | Ps 51:1 | seedling | 144222
Mark, Terrific answer which helps a lot. Sometimes I feel I've done worse sins since I became born again but asked for forgiveness. I attribute the sins to the devil who putting effort to get me back. I know Jesus is stronger and holds me tightly in his hands. At the moment I forgot the verse that says ...no principalities or anything will separate us from the love of the Lord. Seedling |

Seedling, Roman 8:31 What then shall we say to these things? (read the earlier part of Romans 8 to see 'what things' Paul is refering to) If God is for us, who is against us? 32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things? 33 Who will bring a charge against God's elect? God is the one who justifies; 34 who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is He who died, yes, rather who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us. 35 Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 Just as it is written, "FOR YOUR SAKE WE ARE BEING PUT TO DEATH ALL DAY LONG; WE WERE CONSIDERED AS SHEEP TO BE SLAUGHTERED." 37 But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (read this 8th chapter of Romans through a few times, and meditate on what it says.) Being filled with God's Spirit makes us of conscious of sin in a way we never were before. 1 Cor 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. As we grow in Christ, we discover the true horror and depravity of sin. But that is also when we truly begin to fight against it, as we come to hate sin. Jesus promised that those who mourn will be comforted. Philippians 1:3 I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, 4 Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy, 5 For your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now; 6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ God bless you!
