1 | Brokeness | Ps 51:17 | DocTrinsograce | 152018
"Brokenness is an outward manifestation and expression of the inward condition of repentance and godly sorrow. It is the ability to weep, wail, groan and moan when we are sad or in emotional pain. Brokenness is being poured out, much as the woman who washed the feet of Jesus with her tears of repentance." --Anne Murchison "Loud crying and tears are godly expressions of grief and heartache. They are not symptoms of self-pity and indulgence of the flesh. They are rather God's prescription for letting go of the flesh." --Anne Murchison "A friend once asked me, 'How do you know when you are broken? How do you know when someone else is broken?' My response to her was this. A broken person is a one who takes their struggles to the Lord and humbly grieves them. There is a genuineness, a sincerity, a simplicity about them. They are open and unpretentious. It is apparent in their tone of voice and in the softness of their physical appearance. They are easily and openly touched with the feelings others' infirmities. I am less able to describe a broken person, than I am to know when I'm in the presence of one. Jesus was the most broken person who ever walked the earth." --Anne Murchison |

2 | My heart is broken! | Ps 51:17 | KNJ9218 | 166003
My heart is broken! I recently found emails my husband was writing other women online (illicit in nature). He has since repented to God, sought help from our bishop and (after a pulling teeth episode) admitted his fault to me. This is the only time (he tells me) that this has happened and is Godly sorrowful. He now says that his confession feels as though a weight has been lifted and that we could start the healing process. I've forgiven him and have agreed to counseling. But until the sessions start, how do I deal with the pain/the feeling of brokenness?
3 | My heart is broken! | Ps 51:17 | DocTrinsograce | 166005
Dear KNJ9218, The single thing that is fully sufficient and capable of dealing with your pain is the Scriptures. As you hurt, remember that in the same way we all have betrayed our Savior. Remember that of all who have been betrayed, only the Savior is perfectly and entirely innocent. Because of His infinite worth and holiness, our betrayal of Him is infinitely heinous. Yet He offers us grace, mercy, love, and forgiveness. In Him, Doc PS I'd suggest that you and your husband participate in the tutorials available at: http://www.settingcaptivesfree.com/ |
