1 | Boasting in the Name? | Ps 20:7 | Mommapbs | 217516
Why is boasting (trusting) in the Name of the LORD significant? Also, might this verse be referencing Israel's escape from the Egyptians (Ex 14-15)? See also Dt. 20:1 When you go out to battle against your enemies and see horses and chariots and people more numerous than you, do not be afraid of them; for the LORD your God, who brought you up from the land of Egypt, is with you. |

2 | Boasting in the Name? | Ps 20:7 | Makarios | 217534
Greetings again Mommapbs! Perhaps the following verses will help: Jeremiah 9:23-24 "Thus says the LORD, "Let not a wise man boast of his wisdom, and let not the mighty man boast of his might, let not a rich man boast of his riches; but let him who boasts boast of this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the LORD who exercises lovingkindness, justice and righteousness on earth; for I delight in these things," declares the LORD." Zechariah 4:6 "Then he said to me, "This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel saying, 'Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,' says the LORD of hosts." See also Isaiah 31:1-3. If not trusting in the Lord can thwart a King's army (Psalm 33:16-17), then how much moreso can trusting the Lord with one's life produce a life that is pleasing to Him (Proverbs 3:5-6)? Blessings to you, Makarios |

3 | Boasting in the Name? | Ps 20:7 | Mommapbs | 217535
Greetings! Thank you so much for these references! Also, for expanding my other post. These are some scriptures that I want to use as I develop a message for a cancer support group that I am part of at my church. Our mission is to focus on the REAL big "C" - Christ! Some may be cancer free, but many are not free of cancer. This diagnosis can become a prison of fear and doubt or it can become an opportunity for obedience as we learn to choose to trust God. It can even become a privilege. - See John Piper's "Don't Waste Your Cancer" - For to you it has been granted for Christ's sake, not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer for His sake. Phil 1:29 We who have been chosen to suffer for Jesus' Name enter into an arena as a witness to/of the power of God - trusting Him for the outcome. For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us. Romans 8:18 For momentary, light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison, while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal. 2 Cor 4:17-18 Blessings to you! mommapbs |

Greetings Mommapbs! Thank you for your note! It is always a blessing for me to know that the support that we offer here helps in such mighty ways - like with the cancer support group that you are involved with. Thank you again for reminding me, once again, that these posts have been of some help, in some way. Your Brother in Christ, Makarios |
