Hi MKWR, We can trust that the genealogical information throughout the Bible is 100 percent accurate. There has never been any historical or archeological discovery made that contradicts the Biblical genealogical records. With that being said, we also know that not every genealogy in the Bible is complete, in that it contains the name of every single person within the ancestral line. As we compare genealogies in Matthew, Ezra, Chronicles, and Kings, we know that some generations were skipped in some genealogies. This lets us know that there is the possibility that certain names may have been skipped over in any of them. So we know for a certainty, for instance, that Jesus is a descendant of David through Nathan, we cannot guarantee that the genealogy contains the complete record of every generation. We know for certain that Jesus is a descendant of Adam, but again, not that every single generation is named. I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any further concerns about this. Love in Christ, Mark |
