1 | Charles Spurgeon's commentary | Ps 119:48 | Belyn | 67171
Tim: Thank you for directing me to crosswalk. This commentary by Charles Spurgeon answers my question for the most part. "The whole of this verse is in the future, and may be viewed not only as a determination of David's mind, but as a result which he knew would follow from the Lord's sending him his mercies and his salvation" Sprurgeon, Charles H. "Commentary on Psalms 119:48". "The Treasury of David" However, I would still like to know if there was intentional selection of the words will and shall for specific phrases. I have sent an e-mail to the Lockman Foundation regarding my question. When I get their answer I will post my findings for anyone else who is interested. Thanks to both Tim and Hank for your help. 2 | Charles Spurgeon's commentary | Ps 119:48 | Hank | 68081
Hello, Belyn, and happy Thanksgiving to you. Since you mentioned me as well as Tim in your posts, I'll respond: Tim must be taking a few days off from the forum -- not a bad idea, by the way! Yes, please do post what you learn from the NASB translation team at Lockman, with their permission, of course. And what do you think of the Spurgeon.org web site? Do you find it helpful? Spurgeon was some preacher! I may not always agree with his every word, but one is hard pressed in my view to find a preacher, then or now, who had a higher view and greater awe of God's word than he. --Hank
