Dear Suju, Psalm 118:8 tells us that, "It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in man." Even the most powerful human being is less to be trusted than God (see also v9). Human beings are far inferior in power, knowledge, wisdom, and benevolence. Whereas God is omnipotent, omniscient, infinitely wise, and unwavering in His good purposes. Humans are often deceitful, but God is perfect in His righteousness. Humans are limited in their power when it comes to many places and many conditions. God is not bound by space, time, or circumstance. Think about God's sovereignty. Human's can't even come close! All things are under God's rule and control. Everything that happens in this universe does so only with God's explicit direction and permission. No event ever takes God by surprise. He works all things -- not just certain things, but all things -- by the dictates of His own will (Ephesians 1:11). God's purposes include the tiniest detail. He is never thwarted (Isaiah 46:11). No human, beast, angel, or nation exercises such power. Indeed, they themselves are subject to God (Psalm 103:9; 104:21-30; 135:6-7; Job 1:12; Galatians 1:15-16; Daniel 2:20-21). What other refuge would be as secure as the Lord? In Him, Doc |
