1 | what is the importance of fasting? | Neh 1:4 | JAYANTH | 38989
Fasting is a spiritual exercise to subject our body to christ. It needn't be just going on a food fast...what i mean is that if you deprive any thing that the flesh wants then it is a fast by itself. By doing so, your you can subject your fleshly desires to Christ and move closer to fellowship with Him.

Hi Jayanth, Can you explain what you mean by "what i mean is that if you deprive any thing that the flesh wants then it is a fast by itself" Can you give an example. Strongs Concordance: Fast-- Abstaining from food. "Moreover when ye FAST, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to FAST. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But thou, when thou FASTEST, anoint thine head, and wash thy face; that thou appear not unto men to FAST, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly." Matthew 6:16 bgg |

Dear Friend, Let me illustrate this point with an example: Mr.X is a spender. What he does is to help some brother in need he abstsins from spending to help this brother here we see a different kind of fasting. And remember what i have written what body 'wants' and not what body 'needs'. Moreover let me bring out another example Can a diabetic be under fast? medically it is not possible. Then what he does is hetakes what is needed to the body and yet he remains in afast. |
