1 | Rev 22:12 and post millennial judgement? | Revelation | brrrilliantsteve | 235972 | ||
Hi E.Smith Good work on the King of Tyre and the Stars of heaven. I do have a question for you though. How do you reconcile a post millennial judgement with Rev 22:12? "And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be." Jesus is speaking to John here, and he clearly says that his reward is with him when he comes quickly. This has to be his second coming as the redeemed have not yet entered the gates into the city for their reward. Rev 22:14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city." Immediately followed by his reward for those that you mentioned in Rev 22:15, which is being left outside the city. Steve |

Revelations 21:7,8 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he will be my son. 8.But the fearful, and unbelieving, and whoremongers, and sorcerers (drugies) and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone; which is the second death, I was only comparing these type people will be judged just like Satan, in short all those that don't overcome in the millennium will be judged to the lake of fire just like Satan and his angels, I might not be understanding your question, any way I hope I am in the ball park. I would like to respond to E.Smith and CDBJ, Thank you both for your responses and the opportunity to study together. I partially agree with you both and I think we are definitely in the same ballpark. It is clear in the word that after the time of the white throne/1000 year judgement is the second death for the wicked. Which brings me to Hebrews 9:27. CDBJ the text actually reads “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: (Greek, ABP, KJV, MKJV). This is an important differentiation because 1Pe 3:18 says “For Christ also once suffered for sins,…” Very simply, both of these texts are linked with the idea of having only one chance for salvation, that is, there are no further opportunities for the lost to be saved after their death. No preaching to the saints in hell, no purgatory, no second chance after a secret rapture, no transubstantiation, (I will stop there). CDBJ is there a difference between being judged for you works, and being rewarded for your works in Rev 22:12? I’m not sure. Also I don’t know what (BEMA) means. CDBJ, regarding “those born during the millennium” Mark 12:25 says “For when they shall rise from the dead (Matt- in the resurrection), they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but they are as the angels in Heaven.” This seems to indicate that we will no longer (by association) procreate once we are in heaven (I believe the millennium for the saved will be spent in heaven). If this is the case then there will be no need for concern for there will be no new born. (I am not sure how I feel about that given I have no kids of my own, but I am sure the pleasure of being with our saviour and the wonders awaiting us will fulfil us for ever more). Steve |

Greetings, If it’s OK with you, in order not to cause confusion, I would like to answer these one at a time? First question to answer; “is there a difference between being judged for you works, and being rewarded for your works in Rev 22:12? I’m not sure. Also I don’t know what (BEMA) means.” My intent was to show that every born again believer in Christ will stand before Him to be rewarded for that which was done while still in the flesh. 2 Corinthians 5:10 (NKJV) 10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad. This is a judgment for rewards, (Koine Greek “BEMA” is like the reward stand at the Olympic games), not for our sins, they were all judged at the cross and Jesus paid for those and not only ours but for the whole world. 1 John 2:2 (NKJV) 2 And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world. The rewards for our lives while as believers here in this life will be rewarded as follows. 1 Corinthians 3:11-15 (NKJV) 11 For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12 Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, 13 each one's work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one's work, of what sort it is. 14 If anyone's work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward. 15 If anyone's work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire. Those that haven’t put the totality of their faith alone in Christ alone are already judged and this is known before they die physically and God’s Word tells exactly why. John 3:18 (NKJV) 18 He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. John 3:36 (NKJV) 36 He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him." Have a great day, CDBJ |
