1 | once save always saved? | Revelation | fran1946 | 90533
since the church is not flesh and blood , but made up of flesh and blood members, I am sure that Jesus was speaking to the members of that particulat congregation. some time we do play with words, or read something into it that is not there, which should not be. But according to God's word through out the bible there is no theory to support once saved always saved. according to 2 Ptr 2:22 when we turn away from the faith as the proverb put it, the dog is turned to his own vomit again, and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire. each of these things repersent returning to sin. So we can fall from grace. I don't want to have to repent and do my first works over again, what about you. lest get it right the first time around.

Hey Fran1946, Got a question for you. Actually I have a few questions. Is it possible to know the Word of God without it having any perminate effects in our lives?? “You searched the scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; it is these that testify about Me; 40. And you are unwilling to come to Me so that you may have life.” John 5:39-40. Now here’s a group of people that thought that they had eternal life through bible study, but Jesus let them know that was not the case. So is it possible to be aware of the Word of God and it not have a perminate effect in our lives?? If this is possible, then I believe that 2 Peter 2:20-22 is referring to this same type of person. I believe that Peter is speaking of a person who has learned about Christ and how to be saved and has quite possibly been positively influenced by christians. This person has then rejected the truth and returned to his or her sinful state. According to v.21, they are worst of then before, because they have rejected the ONLY way out of sin. How do you interpret John 10:27-29?? “My sheep hear My voice and I know them, and they follow Me; 28 and I give eternal life to them, and they WILL NEVER PERISH; and NO ONE will snatch them out of My hand. 29. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand.” Now if I’m interpreting your understanding correctly to imply that salvation can be lost, then does it not appear that Jesus has spoken incorrectly in this verse. If we can lose our salvation, the some of us WILL PERISH, and someone HAS plucked us out of the hands of the Father, the individual themselves. It also appears that Romans 8:1, “Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus”, is incorrect. I personally do not believe all this, but if losing one’s salvation is a possibility, then there are a number of scriptures that tends to give misleading indications. What’s your take on all of this?? The CurtMan |
