The writer may not be referring to a specific person but to the history of persecution of God's faithful. One torture unto death was to saw a person in half and may be what he is referencing. Others during the biblical days included slow drowning, burning alive, just about any thing man could invent to torture someone. His point being it is possible to walk through these horrible events in faith and never give up on God even unto death. |
