Hi, Lafay... Welcome to the forum! Paul probably wrote the Epistle to the Colossians while imprisoned in Rome. He did so because of a report from Epaphras(see Colossians 1:78), some of which was positive (Colossians 2:5), and some of which was not. The purpose of His epistle was to address the "Colossian Heresy" which had to do with a kind of syncretism of both pagan and Jewish origin. Read through the epistle.
