2 | Help! When was the temple of Jer. destro | Acts | EdB | 73302 | ||
Rferg The temple was destroyed in about 70AD by the Roman army lead by Titus. Pentecost occurred approximately 50 days after Passover or 10 days after Jesus ascended to the Father, which was 40 days after he arose. His death and resurrection is between 30 and 33 AD. The Book of Acts starts out with the ascension and continues through a number of years of ministry by the disciples. However there is no mention of the destruction of the Temple contained in it. Nor is there a mention of Paul’s death which occurred in approximately 68 AD. Therefore most scholars assume the Book of Acts was written before both occurred, many placing it at around 62 AD. However the Churches mentioned in Acts are known to have continued long after the destruction of the Temple. Many Christians fled Jerusalem to Petra during the Roman siege of Jerusalem that lead to the destruction of the Temple. EdB |
