2 | discuss filling of Spirit/tongues gift | Acts | Francene Johnson | 49589
As I understand about the gift of tongues is at the day of Pentacost when the king had the slaves in the book of Acts 2:1-3 to build a tower at babel. And at that time the Lord had everyone speaking in a unknown tongue. Now the filling of the Holy Spirit is a gift that only God can give. I prayed and prayed for 4 years before the Lord bestowed the gift upon me. So I know God is able.I used to fast and be in shut in at church and still nothing, but when God comes in you will know it.

Thank you for your answer, but the facts of your statement are a little off. Allow me to point out a few facts. The events of Pentacost did take place in acts, but had nothing to do with the tower of Babel, which wasn't a 'tongues phenomenon in the same way as in Acts. God confused the languages in that old testament scripture, not New Testament, because of Man's prideful building to reach the heavens. I was asking about whether someone could shed light on the tongues issue in the church and whether tongues can be SCRIPTURALY proven as evidence of the infilling of the Holy Spirit. I know what the opinions are, but Please give me scripture if someone has an answer, rather than opinions.
