Jesus died on the preparation day(the day before the sabbath) John 19:31-33 The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away. Then came the soldiers, and brake the legs of the first, and of the other which was crucified with him. But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they brake not his legs: He rose on the first day of the week(the day after the sabbath): John 20:1 The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre. To help understand how time is viewed: Genesis 1:5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day. The preparation day begins on our Thursday evening. The first day of the week is Sunday. Now you may say that Thursday to Sunday is 4 days, but remember, it is 3 Hebrew days and 3 Hebrew nights. Praise the Lord! Norm |
